ISLAMABAD, Dec 17 (TNS):In a significant step toward promoting women\u2019s empowerment and safety, Growing Women organized a high-level seminar titled \u201cSafe Her Growth\u201d at Hi-Tech University, Taxila.<\/div>\n

The seminar brought together government officials, law enforcement representatives, media leaders, academia, and social activists to discuss strategies for capacity building, security, and inclusive growth for women in Pakistan.<\/div>\n
\"\"Ms. Sabeen Ghauri, Parliamentary Secretary for IT, highlighted the government\u2019s ongoing efforts to provide women with opportunities in technology and entrepreneurship. She announced that the Ministry of IT plans to launch a dedicated incubation center in Islamabad by February 2026, aimed at empowering women-led startups and fostering innovation.<\/div>\n

\u201cCreating safe and enabling environments for women is not just a moral obligation, it is essential for national development,\u201d she said, emphasizing that digital literacy and technological skills are key to women\u2019s empowerment in today\u2019s era.<\/div>\n

Ms. Mehak Gul, Assistant Director of NCCIA, stressed the role of collaborative initiatives between government and private sector organizations to ensure access to resources, mentorship, and economic opportunities for women. She underscored the importance of skill development programs and institutional support to help women achieve independence and leadership positions in their respective fields.<\/div>\n

Former DG NADRA, Mr. Anwar Ajmal, spoke about the crucial role of secure digital identification systems in protecting women\u2019s rights and privacy. He noted, \u201cTechnology is a double-edged sword\u2014it provides opportunities, but it also poses risks. Awareness and accessibility are the first steps in ensuring that women are protected while benefiting from digital advancements.\u201d<\/div>\n

Former DG FIA, Mr. Rana Shahid, highlighted the importance of sensitizing men in society and within law enforcement agencies. He emphasized that training for men is essential to protect women from harassment and cybercrime, and to promote respect for women in both professional and public spaces. \u201cA safe society begins with awareness and accountability among all members, especially men,\u201d he stated.<\/div>\n

Ms. Sadaf Asim, Former Senior Vice President of the Women Chamber of Commerce & Industry, spoke on the economic empowerment of women. She encouraged women to take leadership roles in business, emphasizing that mentorship and institutional backing are crucial for sustainable growth. \u201cWomen must be empowered not just socially but economically, so that their contributions are recognized and their independence secured,\u201d she said.<\/div>\n

Mr. Rana Imran Latif, Senior Journalist and Chairman of Pyas International, stressed the media\u2019s role in promoting awareness about women\u2019s rights and security. He called for responsible journalism that highlights women\u2019s achievements while also addressing social challenges and creating a dialogue for positive change.<\/div>\n

Ms Romana Chaudhry, Founder of Women Empowerment, shared her vision for community-driven initiatives that focus on skill development, mentorship, and creating safe spaces for women to grow personally and professionally. She emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts among civil society, government, and educational institutions to achieve meaningful impact.<\/div>\n

Officials from Hi-Tech University presented their ongoing projects aimed at women\u2019s education and professional development, highlighting programs under HOPE Academy and ORIC that empower female students to excel in STEM, entrepreneurship, and research.<\/div>\n

The seminar also featured discussions on cyber safety, legal rights, and protective mechanisms available for women. Experts stressed the need for awareness campaigns, reporting mechanisms for cybercrimes, and institutional support to ensure women can work and participate in society without fear.<\/div>\n

The event concluded with a call to action, urging stakeholders to work collectively to create an inclusive and safe environment where women can thrive. \u201cEmpowering women is not a choice\u2014it is a necessity for national progress. When women are safe and empowered, communities prosper,\u201d remarked Ms. Romana Chaudhry.<\/div>\n
