Earlier, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif had announced a major reduction in the prices of petroleum products during his speech in the National Assembly. The prices of petroleum products in Pakistan are expected to decrease by 70 to 100 rupees per liter in proportion to the global market. US-Iran War: How many times have petrol prices increased and decreased? Since the start of the war, which started with the attacks on Iran by Israel and the US, the effects of fluctuations in oil prices in the global market have also been evident in Pakistan, where significant increases and decreases in the prices of petroleum products have been recorded several times. The first major increase in the prices of petroleum products was made on March 6, 2026, when the government increased the prices of petrol and diesel by about Rs 55 per liter due to the increase in global oil prices. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had approved a reduction in the price of diesel by Rs 32.12 per liter on April 17, after which its new price was reduced from Rs 385.54 to Rs 353.43, while it was decided to maintain the price of petrol.<br \/>\nOn April 18, the price of light diesel was reduced by Rs 70.04 per liter, after which the new price was reduced from Rs 369.72 to Rs 299.32 per liter. Similarly, the price of jet fuel was also reduced by Rs 23.59 per liter, after which its new price was reduced from Rs 494.71 to Rs 471.01 per liter. The price of kerosene for domestic consumers has also been reduced by Rs 12 per liter, and a discount of Rs 10 per liter has also been given in its price.<br \/>\nAccording to the Ministry of Petroleum and economic experts, the main reasons for this relief are that the prices of crude oil in the global market have suddenly fallen by more than 3 percent due to the US-Iran agreement (Islamabad Understanding). After Pakistan&#8217;s successful diplomacy, the confidence of the economic circles has been restored, which has stabilized the Pakistani rupee in the interbank market. The Prime Minister has made it clear that any economic benefits at the global level will be directly and immediately transferred to the people.<br \/>\nThe Prime Minister has issued strict orders to the provincial governments and district administrations (including deputy commissioners) to immediately reduce the fares of public transport and goods transport in proportion to the reduction in petrol. After the reduction in freight costs, the prices of vegetables, fruits, and other essential commodities in the general markets should be ensured. The new prices will be implemented across the country from 12 midnight tonight, which will greatly help the common man and the business community in reducing the cost of production.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>ISLAMABAD (TNS) After the reduction in petroleum product prices by the Prime Minister of Pakistan, a &#8216;Public Relief Package&#8217; has been outlined to immediately reduce the burden of inflation on the common man.
