ISLAMABAD (TNS) In a thrilling and breathtaking final match played at the historic Belfius Hockey Stadium in the Belgian city of Vivre, Germany defeated Spain 1-0 to crown itself the FIH Men’s Hockey World Cup 2026. With this historic victory, Germany has become the world champion for the fourth time and equaled Pakistan’s long-standing record of winning the most titles in the history of hockey. On the other hand, in the final of the Women’s World Cup played in the Netherlands, Argentina defeated the defending champion Netherlands 3-1 in a penalty shootout to win the title of world champion for the third time.
\nGermany vs Spain The final match between the two traditional European rivals was, as expected, extremely tough and defensively-oriented: Both teams kept up the pressure in the first and second quarters of the match, but neither team was able to score, which resulted in the match being tied. Germany struck the final blow in the third quarter of the game.
