Lahore, August 23 (TNS):<\/strong> Shahbaz Sharif led Punjab government has been working day and night to overcome the energy crisis to facilitate masses and to boost industries for prosperous Pakistan.\"\"<\/p>\n

The country has been facing substantial shortages in the power sector and the most populous province of Punjab is no exception.<\/p>\n

In Punjab, at present, there is a demand-supply gap of about 4000 MW which is increasing at a rate of 6% per annum.<\/p>\n

Punjab with 68% of the consumption of generated power and gas is worst affected and has to endure both power and gas load shedding with adverse social and economic consequences.<\/p>\n

Tremendous work has been done during the last four years under the leadership of Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif to resolve the energy crisis.<\/p>\n

Due to efforts of the PML-N energetic leader Shahbaz Sharif, the energy crisis is about to end.<\/p>\n

Shahbaz led provincial government kicked off multi-billion dollars investment in different energy projects across the province.<\/p>\n

Under the leadership of energetic and enthusiastic Shahbaz Sharid, who is known as \u2018Speedy Sharif\u2019 for many Chinese firms, 3400 MW additional electricity has been generated.\"\"<\/p>\n

1320 MW Coal Fired Power Plant has been functionalized at Sahiwal while 1180 MW capacity plant at Bhakki also producing 717 MW electricity.\"\"<\/p>\n

Under renewable\/green energy projects, 400 MW power is being provided to national grid by Quaid-e-Azam Solar park Bahawalpur which would generate 1000 MW when completed.\"\"<\/p>\n

At Rojhan, 250 MW wind power mills to produce clean energy.\"\"<\/p>\n

In hydro power sector, 21 hydro power plants to be inaugurated soon.\"\"<\/p>\n

Tunsa hydro power project, with capacity of 135 MW, to be kicked off in near future while other small hydro power projects to produce 20 MW across the province.\"\" \"\"<\/p>\n

Under \u2018Khadam-e-Aala Ujalla Program\u2019 300,000 solar home systems have been provided to students on merit and in a transparent manner.\"\"<\/p>\n

50 public offices across Punjab have been converted to independent solar systems under pilot project and more offices to follow.\"\"<\/p>\n

Energy department of Punjab government is planning to convert 20,000 public schools to independent solar systems.\"\"<\/p>\n

The department has initiated an \u201cEnergy Efficiency and Conservation Agency\u201d to preserve the energy and to avoid wastage of electricity.\"\"<\/p>\n
