{"id":15538,"date":"2017-08-24T22:20:53","date_gmt":"2017-08-24T17:20:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tns.world\/?p=15538"},"modified":"2017-08-24T22:20:53","modified_gmt":"2017-08-24T17:20:53","slug":"peace-in-afghanistan-links-to-kashmir-us","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tns.world\/?p=15538","title":{"rendered":"Peace in Afghanistan links to Kashmir: US"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Washington, August 24 (TNS):<\/strong> The US State Department clarified on Thursday that resolving the Kashmir issue might help in bringing peace in Afghanistan.<\/p>\n<p>A day earlier, US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson also urged India to seek reconciliation towards Pakistan.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking at a press briefing, Heather Nauert said that the US views handling Afghanistan as a regional strategy which also incorporates India and Pakistan.<\/p>\n<p>She insisted that \u201cincorporating all the nations in the region who can help assist and help make Afghanistan a stable place\u201d was essential for South Asia.<\/p>\n<p>In response to a question whether the US sees pushing for a solution on Kashmir as part of its regional strategy to deal with Afghanistan, Nauert said that Washington\u2019s policy on Kashmir has not changed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe continue to encourage the sides to sit down and talk together,\u201d she underscored.<\/p>\n<p>Regarding the government\u2019s decision of border fencing along the Durand line, the State Department spokesperson said that the US supports practical cooperation between both the countries.<\/p>\n<p>Nauert went on to say that US supports an Afghan-led peace process for Afghanistan\u2019s stability.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOne of the ways we believe that they can get to the point [of achieving stability] is through the assistance of regional partners, such as India.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIndia has been very helpful. They\u2019ve done a lot in terms of providing development funds to Afghanistan so far. We applaud them for that.
