{"id":16197,"date":"2017-08-28T17:30:26","date_gmt":"2017-08-28T12:30:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tns.world\/?p=16197"},"modified":"2017-08-28T17:30:26","modified_gmt":"2017-08-28T12:30:26","slug":"process-to-appoint-varsities-vcs-sought-from-sindh-govt","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tns.world\/?p=16197","title":{"rendered":"Process to appoint varsities\u2019 VCs sought from Sindh Govt"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Karachi: Aug 28 (TNS):<\/strong> The Supreme Court (SC) on Monday sought from Sindh government procedure for appointment of vice chancellors in Sindh\u2019s public-sector universities.<\/p>\n<p>A three-member bench of the apex court heard the petition challenging the contractual appointment and subsequent extension in tenure of Azam Yusfani as the VC of Peoples University of Medical and Health Sciences for Women, Nawabshah, allegedly in violation of the apex court\u2019s ruling. The hearing was conducted at SC\u2019s Karachi Registry.<\/p>\n<p>Advocate General Sindh Zamir Gumru appeared before the court. He told the court that CV in Benazir Shaheed Medical University was appointed on the recommendation of search committee.<\/p>\n<p>The petitioner pleaded that in Benazir Bhutto Medical University, a government employee was appointed as VC.<\/p>\n<p>The petitioner, Professor Noor Muhammad Khaskheli, informed the bench that the respondent, Yusfani, had joined Pakistan International Airlines in 1997 on a contractual basis and was still continuing his job at the national flag-carrier.<\/p>\n<p>He alleged that in the meantime the respondent was also appointed as Peoples Women\u2019s Medical University VC on contractual basis in 2011, which he continued until recently when he was granted extension upon expiry of his service tenure.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Karachi: Aug 28 (TNS): The Supreme Court (SC) on Monday sought from Sindh government procedure for appointment of vice chancellors in Sindh\u2019s public-sector universities.
