DERA ISMAIL KHAN Nov 01 (TNS):<\/strong> A sister paid the price for her brother\u2019s \u2018crimes\u2019 after men forcefully stripped her and paraded her around the streets of\u00a0 Dera Ismail Khan’s Matt area.<\/p>\n

The incident occurred on October 27. The 16-year-old girl was returning home after fetching water when men surrounded her, stripped her and forcefully made her walk in the locality for an hour.<\/p>\n

The girl\u2019s screams for help fell on deaf ears as no one came to her rescue. The witnesses\u2019 claimed that nobody came to help her because they were scared.<\/p>\n

The incident’s\u00a0survivor was \u2018punished\u2019 for her brother\u2019s behaviour. Around three-years-ago, her brother, identified as Sajjad, got involved in a relationship with a girl from the village.<\/p>\n

A\u00a0panchayat<\/em>\u00a0(village council) gathered and had fined Sajjad\u2019s family Rs105, 000 to resolve the matter. The tehsil nazim was also a part of the decision-making process.<\/p>\n

The local police also showed reluctance following\u00a0the incident to file the case, shared the survivor\u2019s family. The girl was taken to the police station multiple times before a case was eventually filed.<\/p>\n

Moreover, it was further revealed that a case had first been registered against the survivor\u2019s family.<\/p>\n

The police informed that eight suspects have been arrested so far. However, the prime suspect, identified as Sajawal, is still on the run.<\/p>\n

Taking notice of the incident, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa<\/p>\n

Chief Minister Pervaiz Khattak ordered Inspector-General KP Salahuddin Masood to take the culprits to task. The IG also met the chief minister and briefed him on the matter.<\/p>\n

Eight suspects involved in the case have been arrested so far, the IG informed, adding that the area DIG is personally monitoring the case.<\/p>\n

Khattak remarked that the culprits should be brought before the court to ensure justice.<\/p>\n

Moreover, a bill asking for action in the case has also been submitted to the provincial assembly.<\/p>\n
