KARACHI Nov 02 (TNS):<\/strong> Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz Leader Maryam Nawaz remarked that party head Nawaz Sharif has been disqualified but not discredited, despite many attempts by their enemies.<\/p>\n

While speaking on a private TV channel she said\u00a0since the disqualification of Nawaz failed to achieve its purpose, the narrative surrounding plus and minus formulas have emerged.<\/p>\n

Speaking about voters, she said: \u201ca man on the street knows more than you do, more than I do. The nation knows everything.\u201d<\/p>\n

Maryam was also asked to comment on who she thinks is behind the so-called conspiracy against Nawaz, to which she responded: \u201cI leave the thought with you and the people of Pakistan.\u201d<\/p>\n

Commenting on Nisar asking the party members to refrain from criticism, she said that she understands that Nisar made the remarks in sympathy with the party.<\/p>\n

However, she said that she doesn\u2019t understand the dynamics of getting justice in the country. \u201cIf you criticise, then you won\u2019t get justice, but if you don\u2019t criticise then you will get justice?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat is the standard of justice,\u201d she asked. \u201cOur point of view is that there lies anger on the other side and the verdict [disqualification of Nawaz] was announced in haste.\u201d<\/p>\n

Maryam claimed that \u201cPanama case was not about corruption, money laundering or misuse of power.\u201d<\/p>\n

Just because the names appeared on the Panama case it didn\u2019t mean that those people were \u201cnecessarily involved in corruption or any wrongdoing.\u201d<\/p>\n

If there is no wrongdoing, no misuse of authority then no one has the right to raise these issues, she said.<\/p>\n

However, this was used as a basis to bring humiliation to Sharif family. \u201cWe were asked private questions such as \u2018why does daughter live with her father? Why did a father give gifts to his daughter? Why did a son give money to his father?\u201d<\/p>\n

We were also openly labelled to be \u201cdon\u201d, \u201cSicilian mafia\u201d and \u201cGodfather\u201d. Everyone saw the murder of justice in the court, she added.<\/p>\n

Speaking about cases against her, she claimed that she was targeted because she stood in between of the attacks launched against Nawaz Sharif.<\/p>\n

“I was also targeted in the Dawn Leaks. One of the central characters involved me in Dawn Leaks has met his fate,” she remarked.<\/p>\n

Nawaz Sharif compromised on many things for the sake of country\u2019s progress, she said, adding \u201che doesn\u2019t want the system to be harmed.\u201d<\/p>\n

“Personally speaking I think, Mian sahab should not have compromised,” she remarked. “He should have put his foot down.”<\/p>\n

However, Nawaz\u2019s willingness to compromise was \u201cseen as a weakness\u201d and external forces tried to use this against him.<\/p>\n

On the options available to Nawaz in the current political scenario, Maryam shared: \u201cMian\u00a0sahab<\/em>\u00a0has all the options. He doesn\u2019t even require National Reconciliation Ordinance.\u201d<\/p>\n

When asked if Nawaz has no fear of being jailed, she remarked: \u201cWe have been there and done that.\u201d She shared that her family members have been imprisoned as well as exiled in the past.<\/p>\n

She also said that Sharif family has time and again been blackmailed with National Accountability Bureau references, imprisonment, Dawn Leaks, among others.<\/p>\n

Maryam was also asked to comment on why PML-N didn\u2019t raise their voice when former prime minister Yousuf Raza Gilani was disqualified.<\/p>\n

To which Maryam said that Nawaz had indeed accepted that this should not have happened as it sets a bad precedent. \u201cHe remarked this before coming to power,\u201d she explained.<\/p>\n

We agree that all institutions should be respected. But this significance of parliament cannot be discounted. \u201cOthers are constitutional institutions but parliament is a law-making institution.\u201d<\/p>\n

Maryam also shared that PML-N has learnt from its mistakes and made many sacrifices to compensate for those mistakes.<\/p>\n

On Pakistan Peoples Party\u2019s Co-Chairperson Asif Ali Zardari\u2019s remarks against Nawaz, she said: \u201cI am in a fix regarding his statements.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cRight now people are happy being used\u201d but they will soon realise it, she claimed, adding that once Nawaz\u2019s enemies are done with them they will target other people.<\/p>\n

She also shared that it\u2019s not in her position to contact Zardari over the matter. \u201cI can\u2019t call him, it\u2019s not my position to contact him.\u201d<\/p>\n

We have leaders such as Shehbaz and Nawaz to take this decision, she added. \u201cI am not making policies nor am I responsible for their enunciation.\u201d<\/p>\n

On NA-120 by-election, in which PML-N proved to be victorious, she explained that her cousin Hamaza Shehbaz could not campaign with her as he had to leave Pakistan due to some \u201cpersonal reasons.\u201d<\/p>\n

Maryam also cleared the air regarding the alleged rift in Sharif family and claimed that Shehbaz Sharif is the most intelligent member of the family and he has been her hero since childhood.<\/p>\n

On the National Accountability Bureau references against the Sharif family, Maryam said that references have been framed against Nawaz.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere is no allegation of any corruption or kickback against him [Nawaz],\u201d she shared.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are asked time and again where the money has come from. How did Hussain, Hassan [Nawaz’s sons] become billionaires at such a young age,\u201d she claimed.<\/p>\n

People don\u2019t realise that Hassan and Hussain are grandsons of a billionaire, who was one of one of richest people in Pakistan at one point.<\/p>\n
