The students of the higher educational institutions have been invited to present\u00a0their projects and business ideas at the expo.<\/p>\n<p>The event is also aimed at\u00a0tackling the issue of unemployment, with a motto \u2018say no to economic dependency\u2019 and to motivate\u00a0the idea \u2018Be job developer, and not a job seeker\u2019. It will enable the researchers to showcase their projects for marketing as well as developing linkages between academia and industry.<\/p>\n<p>The innovation and creative work of the researchers will help them to seek entrepreneurship in the relevant industry. It will be first-ever career-making activity at the University\u2019s level, said Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Shahid Siddiqui while presiding over a meeting that reviewed the expo\u2019s arrangements.<\/p>\n<p>The University follows\u00a0China\u2019s model promoting students\u2019 entrepreneurship so as to\u00a0enable the youth create earning opportunities through creativity and innovation. The\u00a0expo\u00a0will also serve as \u2018Start up\u2019 for the students to undertake their own\u00a0small-scale business,\u00a0he added.<\/p>\n<p>While highlighting the\u00a0AIOU\u2019s consistent\u00a0endeavor\u00a0promoting research culture in the country, the Vice Chancellor said now they have embarked upon a plan to provide the students an opportunity to showcase their research-based projects for its use by the relevant industry. \u201cWe believe that the academic research must contribute to the country\u2019s socio-economic development,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0expo\u00a0is being\u00a0organized in collaboration with\u00a0Islamabad\u00a0Chamber of Commerce and Industry and other relevant institutions and it\u00a0will act as a bridge between the students and the industrial sector for socio-economic uplift\u00a0through innovative ideas.<\/p>\n<p>Over the last three years, the University has been focusing on promoting research culture in the country, through various means including publishing research journals and holding national and international conferences.\u00a0\u00a0In a short span of time, fourteen research journals were published and about twenty-four conferences were arranged.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>ISLAMABAD Nov 02 (TNS): Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) has adopted a comprehensive plan to facilitate post-graduate students to market their research-based projects and innovative business ideas.
