Karachi, Nov. 8 (TNS):<\/strong> In a major development, the\u00a0Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) and Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP) announced to make alliance for greater interest of Karachi.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWe have decided to\u00a0form a political alliance\u00a0because these testing times require us to do so,\u201d MQM-P chief Dr Farooq Sattar said at\u00a0 joint press conference with PSP\u00a0leader Mustafa Kamal.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWe will chalk out a strategy for the next elections under one name and\u00a0symbol,\u201d he added.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cInstead of only focusing on the problems of Karachi and the rest of Sindh, we must take measures to address the issues of the entire country.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Sattar said they wanted to ensure that peace in Karachi was long lasting and unrest did not return to the metropolis. \u201cPolitical violence should never be allowed to return to Karachi,\u201d he said.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cMQM and PSP have decided to forge a joint political alliance, a working relationship.\u00a0We plan to step into elections with a joint slogan, joint manifesto and joint electoral sign.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Sattar said they would also invite other political parties functioning in urban and rural Sindh to join this political alliance.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWe hope that illegitimate raids against the party workers will stop now,\u201d he said, adding, \u201cWe also hope that missing workers will be recovered\u201d following the formation of the alliance.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cNeither of the parties will lose their identities\u2026 this is only a political alliance and an oath to work together,\u201d Farooq Sattar concluded.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI endorse Farooq Sattar\u2019s views. We are ready to wage a struggle [for the province] under a joint manifesto and name,\u201d said Kamal.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cRight from the day one we held opinion that Altaf Hussain was, is and will remain the chief of Muttahida Qaumi Movement\u2026 Therefore the alliance will not function under the name of MQM.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWe began our journey to end Altaf Hussain\u2019s undue influence on the people of Karachi and we have not retreated on that.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

The PSP chief asserted that they did not want his\u00a0politics to be based on the Mohajir card. \u201cIt\u2019s not the leaders who\u00a0are killed in violence that breaks out when hate is spread on ethnic lines,\u201d he remarked.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIt is the Mohajirs that pay the price for such politics,\u201d he added, highlighting the need for national unity.<\/span><\/p>\n

The alliance will take along and on-board all communities and ethnic groups, said the PSP leader. \u201cWe don\u2019t want the no-go areas for any specific ethnicity to exist or remain,\u201d he added.<\/span><\/p>\n

Kamal also praised political wisdom and open-hearted approach of Farooq Sattar. \u201cWe need to do justice with our designations as leaders\u2026 we need to become one at this historic moment,\u201d he added.<\/span><\/p>\n
