{"id":30001,"date":"2017-11-09T17:50:06","date_gmt":"2017-11-09T12:50:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tns.world\/?p=30001"},"modified":"2017-11-09T17:51:33","modified_gmt":"2017-11-09T12:51:33","slug":"climate-change-should-be-dealt-as-national-security-issue-chairman-na-body","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tns.world\/?p=30001","title":{"rendered":"Climate change should be dealt as national security issue: Chairman NA Body"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>ISLAMABAD, Nov 09 (TNS):<\/strong> Chairman National Assembly\u2019s Standing Committee on Climate Change, Malik Muhammad Uzair Khan has said that the issues related to climate change should be dealt as national security issue for its devastating effects.<\/p>\n<p>While speaking at Green Parliamentary Caucus meeting held by Sustainable Development Policy Institute (SDPI) in collaboration with Heinrich Boll Stiftung (HBS) Pakistan here on Thursday, Malik Muhammad Uzair Khan said that the days when climate change was perceived as \u2018future issue\u2019, were gone as the nation was now facing the real impacts and the unprecedented smog in different parts of the country was only one of its expressions.<\/p>\n<p>Malik Muhammad Uzair Khan said that the NA\u2019s parliamentary committee was trying to identify the legislative gaps that were causing impediments for the implementation on climate change policy. He said think tanks and media had a very crucial role to make the endeavors to respond the climate change impacts successfully.<\/p>\n<p>Ruling PML-N MNA, Romina Khursheed Alam highlighted the importance of \u2018Green Parliamentary Caucus\u2019 and said that the parliamentarians should join hands at this platform keeping their differences apart as responding climate change was a national obligation to save our future generations.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-30003\" src=\"https:\/\/tns.world\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/Dr.-Arif-Alvi.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"388\" srcset=\"https:\/\/tns.world\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/Dr.-Arif-Alvi.jpg 600w, https:\/\/tns.world\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/Dr.-Arif-Alvi-300x194.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>MNA Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI), Dr. Arif Alvi explained the worst impacts of climate change I local context and said that people in different localities including Karachi were already confronting with number of problems related to climate change. He emphasized on strict regulation about the industrial waste as well as to protect natural ecology.<\/p>\n<p>The other parliamentarians including Nafeesa Khattak, Sabhia Nazir and Muhammad Khan Daha, presented an outlook of issues regarding environmental degradation at local level and demanded strict measures to protect water resources and forests.
