QUETTA Nov 16 (TNS):<\/strong> SP Investigation Mohammad Ilyas, a senior police official martyred in a terror attack in the Nawa Kali area of the provincial capital, will be buried today after\u00a0Zuhr\u00a0<\/em>prayers.<\/p>\n

SP Ilyas’ wife, son and grandson were also martyred in the attack. Their funeral prayers and burial will also be held today.<\/p>\n

The police officer\u2019s son, Adeel Ahmed, was a practicing lawyer in Quetta.<\/p>\n

In reaction to the incident, different lawyer organisations have announced a\u00a0boycott of judicial proceedings today.<\/p>\n

The FIR of the incident has been registered on the complaint of the SHO at the Zarghoonabad Police Station.<\/p>\n

SP Ilyas is the second senior police official assassinated in Quetta in the span of a week.<\/p>\n

Last week, a senior police officer was among three officials martyred in a suicide attack on Quetta’s airport road.<\/p>\n

Around eight others, including police officials, were said to be injured in the attack on the vehicle of the senior police officer.<\/p>\n

DIG Hamid Shakeel, who was heading the motor transport and telecommunications department, and two other police officials were martyred when the DIG’s convoy was targetted in a bomb attack.<\/p>\n

Police are often targeted by terrorist attacks in Balochistan.<\/p>\n

In an earlier attack, eight policemen were martyred after unidentified attackers rammed an explosives-laden vehicle into their truck.<\/p>\n

Over 20 others were wounded in the bombing, according to hospital authorities.<\/p>\n

In August this year, a massive suicide explosion, targeting Pakistan Army personnel in Quetta, left 15 people dead \u2013 including seven civilians \u2013 and injured at least 20 people.<\/p>\n

The blast, which reportedly took place in a vehicle, occurred at the Pishin bus stop, causing cars in the surroundings to catch fire soon after.<\/p>\n

In June this year, fourteen people, including seven policemen, were killed and 21 injured in a suicide car bombing near the office of the inspector general of police Balochistan on Gulistan Road.<\/p>\n
