{"id":32254,"date":"2017-11-21T16:10:34","date_gmt":"2017-11-21T11:10:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tns.world\/?p=32254"},"modified":"2017-11-21T16:10:34","modified_gmt":"2017-11-21T11:10:34","slug":"afghanistan-to-review-kabul-amritsar-air-link","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tns.world\/?p=32254","title":{"rendered":"Afghanistan to review Kabul-Amritsar air link"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>New Delhi, Nov. 21 (TNS):<\/strong> Afghan Ambassador to Indian Shaida Abdali says his government will soon revive the Amritsar-Kabul air link to further promote trade activities between the two countries, a media report said on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>He expressed the view during an interaction with local businessmen involved in export and import, organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) at Indian state of Punjab.<\/p>\n<p>The envoy pledged support to the Indian industry for the promotion of trade. \u201cWe plan to resume the air freight and passenger link between Amritsar and Kabul by December 31.<\/p>\n<p>This will make Amritsar a major gateway for import and export between the two nations,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>The rail route can also be explored as\u00a0Afghanistan\u00a0is very well connected with Central Asia, Abdali said.<\/p>\n<p>Pakistan\u00a0has never allowed the use of its land route for trade between India and Afghanistan.<\/p>\n<p>Rajdeep Uppal, former chairman, Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Amritsar, said the Chabahar port in southeastern Iran, being developed and operated by India, would boost access to Iran \u2014 the key gateway to the International North-South Transport Corridor among India, Iran, Russia, Europe and Central Asia.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOnce functional, this sea port will give a significant push to the import of iron ore, sugar and rice to India,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>Sachin Khanna, chairman, CII (Amritsar zonal council), said Afghanistan was a strategic economic partner of India in the South Asian region.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Indian industry is looking for profitable investment opportunities in Afghanistan in sectors such as mining,\u00a0agriculture, textile, energy, infrastructure and telecommunications,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>New Delhi, Nov. 21 (TNS): Afghan Ambassador to Indian Shaida Abdali says his government will soon revive the Amritsar-Kabul air link to further promote trade activities between the two countries, a media report said on Tuesday.
