{"id":34327,"date":"2017-12-01T02:57:32","date_gmt":"2017-11-30T21:57:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tns.world\/?p=34327"},"modified":"2017-12-01T02:57:32","modified_gmt":"2017-11-30T21:57:32","slug":"pti-asks-for-legal-action-against-kulsoom-nawaz-for-not-taking-oath","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tns.world\/?p=34327","title":{"rendered":"PTI asks for legal action against Kulsoom Nawaz for not taking oath"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>ISLAMABAD Nov 30 (TNS):<\/strong> Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has asked for legal action to be taken against Kulsoom Nawaz for not taking oath after winning NA-120 by-elections.<\/p>\n<p>The demand has been made in a letter sent to the chief election commissioner. The letter was drafted by PTI Spokesperson Fawad Chaudhry who put forth a series of questions regarding Kulsoom\u2019s win.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOn 27th September, the ECP issued a notification regarding Kulsoom Nawaz\u2019s win. After winning the elections, it is a legal requirement for the winning candidate to take an oath in the National Assembly. Since she won, three joint sessions of the NA have already been held and the fourth has been summoned by the president,\u201d states the letter.<\/p>\n<p>Chaudhry further states that Kulsoom has failed to fulfill the legal requirements since winning office. \u201cThousands of people from the NA-120 constituency are deprived of a representative.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Chaudhry then asks the election commissioner whether after winning the elections, a constituency can be deprived of a representative for over a month. \u201cFor how long can the oath-taking be postponed after a candidate has won the elections,\u201d he asks further.<\/p>\n<p>He also asked the commissioner what \u201cthe legal and constitutional repercussions\u201d were if the winning candidate did take oath before a certain period of time.<\/p>\n<p>Chaudhry further asked if there was a possibility of re-elections after declaring NA-120 polls null and void. \u201cIs it possible that only healthy candidates can take part in elections?\u201d he asks.<\/p>\n<p>Chaudhry asks for legal and constitutional views of the election commissioner on the questions he has put forth so that people may be able to make informed decisions.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe right to this information is the people\u2019s constitutional right,\u201d he states.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>ISLAMABAD Nov 30 (TNS): Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has asked for legal action to be taken against Kulsoom Nawaz for not taking oath after winning NA-120 by-elections.
