LAHORE Dec 03 (TNS):<\/strong>\u00a0Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Sunday said his government is spending billions of rupees to provide comfortable and low-cost traveling facilities to the people of the province.<\/p>\n

He said this while chairing a high level meeting via video link in Lahore today which reviewed progress on \u201cSpeedo Bus Service\u201d project.<\/p>\n

Shahbaz said after Lahore and Multan, Speedo Bus Service is being launched in Bahawalpur and Lodhran next week.<\/p>\n

He said that modern system of Metro Bus Service has brought revolutionary changes in the transport sector.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the chief minister is inaugurating 1.3 kilometer long Beijing underpass in Lahore today.<\/p>\n

Earlier in the day, Shahbaz said\u00a0his government will give jobs to some 4,848 persons with disabilities.<\/p>\n

In a statement on the occasion of \u2018International Day of Persons with Disabilities\u2019, he said we as an individual and collective society will have to work for the betterment of special persons.<\/p>\n

He stressed the need for sparing a thought for the persons with disabilities. The Punjab government is taking initiatives for the welfare of such people, he added.<\/p>\n

Shahbaz said the government has increased job quota for disabled people to 3 per cent in the government departments. Besides, free treatment facilities have been introduced for them at government hospitals across the province and they could get up to 50 per cent discount on bus fares.<\/p>\n
