This will be a day after Indian\u00a0Supreme Court begins\u00a0the final hearing\u00a0in the long-standing Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid title dispute from Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>On 6 December, 1992, \u00a0the Vishva Hindu Parishad and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) organised a rally in Ayodhya involving over 1.5 lakh volunteers, known as\u00a0<em>kar sevaks<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-35216\" src=\"https:\/\/tns.world\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/4-8.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"700\" height=\"400\" srcset=\"https:\/\/tns.world\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/4-8.jpg 700w, https:\/\/tns.world\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/4-8-300x171.jpg 300w, https:\/\/tns.world\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/4-8-696x398.jpg 696w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Soon, the rally turned violent, and the crowd overwhelmed security forces before\u00a0demolishing the 16th Century\u00a0Babri Masjid. This prompted communal riots across India in which more than 2,000 Muslims lost their lives.<\/p>\n<p>Among\u00a0those present at the rally\u00a0were senior figures in the BJP LK Advani, Uma Bharti and Murli Manohar Joshi. In 2009, a\u00a0report by\u00a0Justice Manmohan Singh Liberhan\u00a0found 68 people to be responsible for the demolition of the mosque, most\u00a0of who were from the BJP.<\/p>\n<p>Among those named were Atal Vajpayee, Advani, Joshi and Vijay Raje Scindia.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-35217\" src=\"https:\/\/tns.world\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/5-6.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"700\" height=\"400\" srcset=\"https:\/\/tns.world\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/5-6.jpg 700w, https:\/\/tns.world\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/5-6-300x171.jpg 300w, https:\/\/tns.world\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/5-6-696x398.jpg 696w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The Liberhan Commission, which was established by the government ten days after the demolition\u00a0of the Babri Masjid, said that then chief minister of Uttar Pradesh\u00a0Kalyan Singh had\u00a0posted bureaucrats and police officers to the city whose record suggested that they would not act during the mosque\u2019s demolition.<\/p>\n<p>Here is what the stakeholders in the case and other prominent voices have said since the incident:<\/p>\n<p>In 2012, addressing reporters in Kalyan, Singh said that he owns full responsibility for the demolition of the mosque, thus reigniting the controversial dispute.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>New Delhi, Dec. 6 (TNS): Indian Muslims on Wednesday observing 25th anniversary of demolition of the Babri Masjid by calling Azan at the site.
