{"id":41408,"date":"2018-01-02T13:15:15","date_gmt":"2018-01-02T08:15:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tns.world\/?p=41408"},"modified":"2018-01-02T13:15:15","modified_gmt":"2018-01-02T08:15:15","slug":"sc-absolves-suspect-of-murder-rape-charges-over-lack-of-evidence","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tns.world\/?p=41408","title":{"rendered":"SC absolves suspect of murder, rape charges over lack of evidence"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>ISLAMABAD Jan 02 (TNS):<\/strong> The Supreme Court on Tuesday acquitted a suspect in a case pertaining to the murder of\u00a0a five-year old girl after sexual assault.<\/p>\n<p>A three-judge bench of the apex court, headed by Justice Asif Saeed Khosa, acquitted the suspect owing to lack of evidence.<\/p>\n<p>Justice Khosa observed that the prosecution has failed to prove charges against the suspect beyond a shadow of doubt.<\/p>\n<p>He noted that legal requirements were not fulfilled while recording the statement of the suspect by a judicial magistrate, whereas the DNA report didn\u2019t also corroborate the charges against him.<\/p>\n<p>According to the police, the suspect had sexually assaulted the minor before murdering her back in 2010 in Karachi.<\/p>\n<p>In 2015, a trial court had awarded capital punishment to the accused in the case.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>ISLAMABAD Jan 02 (TNS): The Supreme Court on Tuesday acquitted a suspect in a case pertaining to the murder of\u00a0a five-year old girl after sexual assault.
