{"id":41949,"date":"2018-01-04T17:27:15","date_gmt":"2018-01-04T12:27:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tns.world\/?p=41949"},"modified":"2018-01-04T17:27:15","modified_gmt":"2018-01-04T12:27:15","slug":"4-killed-40-wounded-in-south-africa-train-accident","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tns.world\/?p=41949","title":{"rendered":"4 killed, 40 wounded in South Africa train accident"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Cape Town, Jan. 4 (TNS):<\/strong> A passenger train has caught fire in South Africa after colliding with a truck, killing four people and injuring 40, rescue workers said on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>Video footage showed a fire blazing through at least one carriage, near an overturned truck and car.<\/p>\n<p>Evacuated passengers were seen standing on the roadside with luggage.<\/p>\n<p>The collision occurred near Kroonstad city in Free State province, after the truck failed to stop at a crossing, a passenger told local media.<\/p>\n<p>The driver of the truck tried to flee, but was arrested by police, the passenger Seipati Moletsane told\u00a0the privately owned eCNA news site.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I was so traumatised. I was looking for a door just to jump out but every door was locked&#8230; All of a sudden, we saw smoke, smoke, smoke,&#8221; Ms Moletsane added.<\/p>\n<p>Firemen and ambulances are at the scene, trying to extinguish the blaze.<\/p>\n<p>Private emergency services company Netcare 911 said that four people had died and 40 others were wounded in the crash.<\/p>\n<p>The train was travelling from the coastal city of Port Elizabeth to the commercial capital, Johannesburg, when the crash occurred.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Cape Town, Jan. 4 (TNS): A passenger train has caught fire in South Africa after colliding with a truck, killing four people and injuring 40, rescue workers said on Thursday.
