{"id":44473,"date":"2018-01-15T20:03:35","date_gmt":"2018-01-15T15:03:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tns.world\/?p=44473"},"modified":"2018-01-15T20:03:35","modified_gmt":"2018-01-15T15:03:35","slug":"sindh-govt-to-introduce-child-sexual-abuse-awareness-programme-bilawal","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tns.world\/?p=44473","title":{"rendered":"Sindh govt to introduce child sexual abuse awareness programme: Bilawal"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Islamabad, Jan. 15 (TNS):<\/strong> To avoid Zainab like tragedies, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairperson Bilawal Bhutto Zardari announced on Monday that the Sindh government is working on introducing an awareness programme on child sexual abuse as part of the school curriculum.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have been working on this curriculum since 2009,\u201d the chairperson said while addressing a press conference at Bilawal House, adding that the information included in the programme is child-friendly and culturally appropriate.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe worked with the ulema\u00a0[religious scholars], teachers, parents and NGOs to develop the curriculum,\u201d Bilawal said.<\/p>\n<p>The PPP chairperson was joined by singer and education activist Shehzad Roy who, via his nonprofit\u00a0the Zindagi Trust, was heavily involved in revitalising the Sindh school curriculum.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have adopted over 200 government schools since the inception of the Zindagi Trust,\u201d Roy said.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-44474\" src=\"https:\/\/tns.world\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/Child-abuse.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"700\" height=\"307\" srcset=\"https:\/\/tns.world\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/Child-abuse.jpg 700w, https:\/\/tns.world\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/Child-abuse-300x132.jpg 300w, https:\/\/tns.world\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/Child-abuse-696x305.jpg 696w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe first introduced the awareness programme regarding child rights and child sexual abuse in government schools in 2009. At first, parents were doubtful about what we were teaching,\u201d the activist added.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey thought we were misguiding their children.
