Delhi, May 03 (TNS):<\/strong> Legendary actors\u00a0Vinod Khanna\u00a0and\u00a0Sridevi\u00a0were felicitated posthumously with the\u00a0Dadasaheb Phalke Award\u00a0and Best Actress honour by President\u00a0Ram Nath Kovind\u00a0at the 65th\u00a0National Film Awards\u00a0here on Thursday.<\/p>\n

While\u00a0Vinod Khanna’s wife Kavita Khanna and son\u00a0Akshaye Khanna\u00a0received the prestigious\u00a0Dadasaheb Phalke Award\u00a0on his behalf,\u00a0Sridevi’s husband\u00a0Boney Kapoor\u00a0and their daughters Janhvi and\u00a0Khushi Kapoor\u00a0were present to take the Best Actress award for the ‘Chandni’ actress.<\/p>\n

Ace designer Manish Malhotra shared on Instagram that for the special occasion, Janhvi chose to wear her mother’s sari.<\/p>\n

Vinod Khanna\u00a0was honoured for his contribution to the Indian cinema. Meanwhile,\u00a0Sridevi\u00a0was felicitated for her role as a purposeful mother in her last and 300th film ‘Mom’.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0Dadasaheb Phalke Award\u00a0is India’s highest honour in the field of cinema. It is presented annually at the\u00a0National Film Awards\u00a0ceremony by the Directorate of Film Festivals, an organisation set up by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.<\/p>\n

As of 2016, the award comprises a Swarna Kamal (Golden Lotus) medallion, a shawl, and a cash prize of Rs 1,000,000.<\/p>\n

In an acting career spanning for over four decades,\u00a0Vinod Khanna, who died in April last year, starred in popular films like ‘Mere Apne’, ‘Mera Gaon Mera Desh’, ‘Kuchhe Dhaage’, ‘Gaddaar’, ‘Imtihaan’, ‘Muqaddar Ka Sikandar’, ‘Inkaar’, ‘Amar Akbar Anthony’, ‘Rajput’, ‘The Burning Train’, ‘Qurbani’, ‘Kudrat’, ‘Parvarish’, and ‘Jurm’.<\/p>\n

Sridevi\u00a0passed away at the age of 54 earlier this year.<\/p>\n
