Srinagar, May 8 (TNS): Former puppet Chief Minister of occupied Jammu and Kashmir and National Conference Working President Omar Abdullah on Tuesday demanded governor’s rule in the occupied state to ensure law and order after Huriyat renewed their appeal for a protest shutdown, Indian media reported.<\/p>\n
Speaking to reporters during his visit to Kargil, Abdullah said that the People’s Democratic Party and Bharatiya Janata Party alliance in occupied Jammu and Kashmir has “completely failed”.<\/p>\n
“They (PDP-BJP) should end alliance and provide way for governor’s rule in the [occupied] state to restore law and order,” Abdullah said.<\/p>\n
The civilian death toll in Sunday’s clashes between protestors and security forces in Shopian district of Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday climbed to six after a youth succumbed to injuries at a hospital in Srinagar.<\/p>\n
Five civilians died on Sunday during clashes between protestors and security forces near an encounter site in Shopian while several others were injured.<\/p>\n
Five freedomfihters including top commander Saddam Padder and Kashmir University professor Mohammad Rafi Bhat were martyred in a gunbattle with Indian security forces on Sunday.<\/p>\n
