Islamabad, May 10 (TNS): Quaid of his own faction of Pakistan Muslim League, Nawaz Sharif on Thursday demanded chairman National Accountability Bureau (NAB) to step down for leveling money laundering allegations on fake news.<\/p>\n
During a press conference here, the former Prime Minister also sought an apology from the anti-graft body which fails to prove allegations against him.<\/p>\n
Giving a 24-hour deadline to NAB to provide evidence, Nawaz demanded Justice (R) Javed Iqbal to resign for levelling such \u201cnon-sense\u201d allegation.<\/p>\n
\u201cNAB has lost its credibility and its vindictive approach is weakening democracy,\u201d ousted Prime Minister said.<\/p>\n
Nawaz was referring to a notice taken by NAB chairman on a two-year old World Bank report doing the rounds that laundered $4.9 billion to India.<\/p>\n
Nawaz said that the report was being distorted to frame charges against him.<\/p>\n
\u201cReferences against me in NAB are related to baseless media report,\u201d Nawaz said adding that his media trial had become NAB\u2019s sole mission.<\/p>\n
Ex-premier went on to say that the NAB claims were rubbished by bith State Bank of Pakistan and World Bank itself.<\/p>\n
Claiming his disqualification was \u2018engineered\u2019, ousted Prime Minster accused that statement of Chairman NAB was another event of an forthcoming drama.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe forces ousted me on Iqama when they could not prove corruption charges against me. I have appeared before court 70 times \u2013 they are hunting for something that can be used to against me but still failed,\u201d Nawaz said.<\/p>\n
