{"id":64974,"date":"2018-05-12T18:46:37","date_gmt":"2018-05-12T13:46:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tns.world\/?p=64974"},"modified":"2018-05-12T18:46:37","modified_gmt":"2018-05-12T13:46:37","slug":"pak-afghan-agrees-to-resolve-problems-concerning-transit-and-trade","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tns.world\/?p=64974","title":{"rendered":"Pak-Afghan agrees to Resolve Problems concerning Transit and Trade"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Afghanistan, May 12 (TNS):<\/strong> The Afghan Ministry of Commerce and Industries said on Friday that an agreement has been signed between Afghan and Pakistani officials to resolve some problems facing transit and trade between the two countries.<\/p>\n<p>Pakistani officials have agreed to reduce tariffs on Afghan fruit and vegetables and will allow the export of Afghan cotton to Pakistan, Musafir Qoqandi, spokesman for the Ministry of Commerce and Industries, told TOLO news.<\/p>\n<p>The agreement was made at a meeting between Afghan and Pakistani officials in Islamabad last week.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, it was agreed to lift limitations and conditions on quarantine certificates for Afghan goods which are being exported to Pakistan, Qoqandi said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe two countries&#8217; meeting was good for transit and trade in Afghanistan and Pakistan because it agreed that Pakistan will lower customs tariffs on Afghanistan\u2019s fruit and vegetables,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>Some members of the Afghan private sector said they are not optimistic about Pakistan\u2019s will to overcome the issues in trade and transit between the two countries.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are not so hopeful about the implementation of these commitments by Pakistan, but if they deliver, it will be good for the two countries,\u201d said Shabir Bashiri, head of Investment, Industry and Mine Council, a private sector-related institution.<\/p>\n<p>Representatives of the private sector called on the Afghan government to enter into talks with Pakistan from a strong position and properly resolve transit and trade problems between the two neighbouring countries.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Afghanistan, May 12 (TNS): The Afghan Ministry of Commerce and Industries said on Friday that an agreement has been signed between Afghan and Pakistani officials to resolve some problems facing transit and trade between the two countries.
