{"id":65329,"date":"2018-05-15T00:37:12","date_gmt":"2018-05-14T19:37:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tns.world\/?p=65329"},"modified":"2018-05-15T00:38:23","modified_gmt":"2018-05-14T19:38:23","slug":"sbp-fixes-nisab-for-zakaat-deduction-on-saving-accounts-rs-39198","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tns.world\/?p=65329","title":{"rendered":"SBP fixes Nisab for Zaka\u2019at deduction on saving accounts @ Rs 39,198"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>KARACHI, May 15 (TNS): \u00a0The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has fixed the Nisab for Zakat deduction on bank accounts at Rs39,198 for the ongoing year.<\/p>\n<p>According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony on Monday, Zakat will be deducted from saving accounts, profit and loss sharing accounts and other similar accounts having a balance of Rs39,198 or above, on the first of Ramazan.<\/p>\n<p>Under the Zakat and Ushr Ordinance 1980, no Zakat would be deducted in case a bank account has less than Rs39,198, the statement added.<\/p>\n<p>The first of Ramazan will be on May 17 or 18 this year, subject to appearance of the moon.<\/p>\n<p>To be liable for Zakat \u2013 which is one of the five pillars of Islam \u2013 one&#8217;s wealth must amount to more than a threshold figure, termed the \u2018Nisab\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>Those who do not want Zakat deduction from their accounts can submit a \u2018Zakat exemption\u2019 form in their respective banks.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-65332\" src=\"https:\/\/tns.world\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/195433_7559749_updates.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"565\" height=\"800\" srcset=\"https:\/\/tns.world\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/195433_7559749_updates.jpg 565w, https:\/\/tns.world\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/195433_7559749_updates-212x300.jpg 212w, https:\/\/tns.world\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/195433_7559749_updates-297x420.jpg 297w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 565px) 100vw, 565px\" \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>KARACHI, May 15 (TNS): \u00a0The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has fixed the Nisab for Zakat deduction on bank accounts at Rs39,198 for the ongoing year.
