LAHORE, June 2 (TNS): The Judicial Commission of Pakistan (JCP)
\nSaturday recommended the elevation of Peshawar High Court (PHC)
\nChief Justice Yahya Afridi to the Supreme Court of Pakistan.
\nThe meeting of the Judicial Commission for the appointment of judges
\nwas held here at the Supreme Court Lahore Registry, presided over by
\nChief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar being the chairman of the commission.
\nWhereas Justice Asif Saeed Khan Khosa, Justice Gulzar Ahmad, Justice
\nSh. Azmat Saeed, Attorney General Ashtar Ausaf, Pakistan Bar Council representative Yousuf Laghari, KPK Bar Council representative Shah
\nJehan Khan Swati and others also attended the meeting.
\nDuring the meeting, the commission recommended elevation of
\nPeshawar High Court Chief Justice Yahya Afridi to the Supreme Court of
\nPakistan. Similarly, the commission also recommended Justice Waqar
\nAhmad Seth as the new Chief Justice of the Peshawar High Court.
\nThe Judicial Commission was constituted under the 18th
\nConstitutional Amendment. The recommendations made by the
\nCommission now would be sent to the committee on Judges
