Lahore, June 8 (TNS): Amid opposition by PML-N, Caretaker Chief Minister Punjab Prof Hassan Askari took oath of his office in Lahore on Friday.<\/p>\n
Governor Punjab Malik Muhammad Rafique Rajwana administered the oath to him. A large number of dignitaries and top officials attended the ceremony.<\/p>\n
The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) announced on Thursday that Dr. Hassan Askari Rizvi, a political scientist and defence analyst, will take\u00a0over as the caretaker chief minister of Punjab.<\/p>\n
A day earlier, the ECP announced name of Dr. Hassan Askari Rizvi, a political scientist and defence analyst, for slot of the caretaker chief minister of Punjab.<\/p>\n
Hasan Askar, whose name was pitched by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), is noted for his work in\u00a0comparative politics,\u00a0nuclear weapons, and country\u2019s domestic policy.<\/p>\n
Author of various\u00a0books, including Military, state and society in Pakistan, Askari has been serving as professor of political science\u00a0at the Punjab University, Lahore.<\/p>\n
He was conferred with Sitara-e-Imtiaz by President of Pakistan in 2010.<\/p>\n
He gained BA (with honours) in\u00a0Political science\u00a0and\u00a0English literature\u00a0in 1968 from the\u00a0Punjab University. In 1970, he attained MA in political science and proceeded with his studies of United Kingdom.
