{"id":70990,"date":"2018-07-09T18:48:56","date_gmt":"2018-07-09T13:48:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tns.world\/?p=70990"},"modified":"2018-07-09T18:48:56","modified_gmt":"2018-07-09T13:48:56","slug":"indias-top-court-bans-outsiders-from-offering-friday-prayers-in-taj-mahal","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tns.world\/?p=70990","title":{"rendered":"India\u2019s top court bans outsiders from offering Friday prayers in Taj Mahal"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>New Delhi, July 9 (TNS): People, who are not the residents of Agra, would not be allowed to enter a mosque located inside the Taj Mahal complex to offer Friday prayers, Indian Supreme Court ordered on Monday, while rejecting a plea saying the monument was one of the seven wonders of the world and it cannot be \u201cdecimated\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>A bench of Justices A K Sikri and Ashok Bhushan observed that there were several other mosques in Agra and the non-residents could offer the customary prayers there.<\/p>\n<p>The direction came when the apex court was hearing a plea challenging a January 24 order of Agra\u2019s Additional District Magistrate (City) barring non-residents from offering Friday prayers in the mosque on the ground of security of Taj Mahal.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis (Taj Mahal) is one of the seven wonders of the world and we do not want this to decimate. We are dismissing it (plea),\u201d the bench said.<\/p>\n<p>At the outset, the bench asked \u201cwhy for such prayers, should they go to the Taj Mahal?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are not entertaining this (plea),\u201d the bench said, adding, \u201cthere are other mosques also.
