ISLAMABAD, Aug. 10 (TNS):\u00a0In a major development, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Friday accepted\u00a0Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chairman Imran Khan\u2019s apology in the ballot secrecy case.<\/p>\n
Earlier, the court had ordered Imran\u2019s counsel, Babar Awan, to submit a reply in the case. A four-member bench, headed by Chief Election Commissioner Sardar Muhammad Raza, heard the case and a reply was submitted by Awan.<\/p>\n
On Thursday, chief election commissioner directed Imran\u2019s counsel Awan to immediately reply on\u00a0Imran having cast his vote in full public glare.<\/p>\n
The ECP had earlier taken notice\u00a0of\u00a0the July 25 happening. The\u00a0top poll body\u00a0then summoned\u00a0Imran to appear before\u00a0a four-member bench on this account.\u00a0\u201cThe divider (at the booth) was removed due to rush,\u201d Awan told the court. \u201d When Imran asked staff for instructions, he was told how to\u00a0cast his vote.\u201d The bench then directed the Awan to file a reply immediately.<\/p>\n
The ECP also cleared Imran,\u00a0former speaker of the National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, Jamaat-e-Ulema Islamia-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Fazlur Rehman and former chief minister Pervez Khattak in the case of abusive language lodged against them.<\/p>\n
