QUETTA, Aug. 16 (TNS):\u00a0Balochistan Awami Party\u2019s Abdul Quddus Bizenjo on Thursday swore-in as Speaker of Balochistan Assembly.<\/p>\n

Bizenjo was elected top slot of Balochistan Assembly with 39 votes.<\/p>\n

The session was presided over by Speaker Raheela Khan Durrani who will also administer the oath to the newly elected speaker.

The BAP, which commands a majority in the provincial legislature, pitched former chief minister Bizenjo as speaker against Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA)\u00a0nominee Nawaz Kakkar.<\/p>\n

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) candidate Babar Musakhel has been nominated as deputy speaker against Balochistan National Party-Mengal (BNP-M) candidate Ahmad Nawaz.<\/p>\n

The party nominated me because they found me competent, and I\u00a0hope to be elected without any competition,\u201d\u00a0former chief minister Bizenjo remarked told reporters.\u00a0 He said he would donate five months\u2019 salary to the chief justice\u2019s dam fund if elected. BAP\u2019s Bizenjo expressed interest in\u00a0becoming part of BNP-M and MMA-led government saying such an alliance would improve the province\u2019s standing before the federal government.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
