Sept 4 (TNS): The founder of the Haqqani network,\u00a0Jalaluddin Haqqani, is dead,\u00a0Taliban\u00a0spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid announced.<br \/>\nHaqqani, who had fought with Soviet troops, was reportedly ill for a long period of time. He was a member of\u00a0Quetta Shura, a terrorist organisation comprising Afghan\u00a0Talibanleaders, who are believed to be based in Balochistan, according to US media reports.<br \/>\nMujahid further said that Haqqani was an instrumental figure in keeping the\u00a0Talibantogether after the death of former Afghan\u00a0Taliban\u00a0leader\u00a0Mullah Omar.<br \/>\nHaqqani was closely tied to\u00a0al Qaeda\u00a0leaders and had played a key role in supporting the terror group in both Afghanistan and Pakistan.<br \/>\nHaqqani is the father of\u00a0Taliban\u00a0deputy emir and military commander Sirajuddin Haqqani.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Washington D.C.
