Mumbai, Sept. 5 (TNS): Bollywood actor Rishi Kapoor denounces banning his movie ‘Mulk’ in Pakistan.<\/p>\n
\u201cMulk\u201d supposedly \u2018pro-Muslim\u2019 project, the veteran artist\u2019s latest outing highlights the issues faced by Muslims living in India.<\/p>\n
Last month, Rishi Kapoor\u2019s film\u00a0Mulk<\/em>\u00a0was banned from releasing in Pakistan<\/p>\n In more recent news, Rishi, who portrays a Muslim man named Murad Ali Muhammad in\u00a0Mulk<\/em>, has finally opened up about the subject. \u201cI\u2019ve been getting sweet text messages from all over the world. My only regret is that the film was banned in Pakistan,\u201d Rishi told\u00a0Mumbai Mirror<\/em>.<\/p>\n \u201cPerhaps because we showed that Indian Muslims continue to be heckled with that awful line, \u2018Go back to Pakistan\u2019. I wish they would reconsider the ban,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n This isn\u2019t the first time the\u00a0Bobby<\/em>\u00a0actor has essayed a Muslim character. Previously, his famous roles such as Akbar from\u00a0Amar Akbar Anthony<\/em>, Dawood Ibrahim from\u00a0D-Day<\/em>\u00a0and Rauf Lala from\u00a0Agneepath<\/em>\u00a0garnered critical as well as commercial acclaim.<\/p>\n According to Rishi, these choices weren\u2019t deliberate. \u201cI\u2019ve been the good guy as well as the baddie. Rauf Lala of\u00a0Agneepath<\/em>\u00a0and Murad of\u00a0Mulk<\/em>are at two ends of a spectrum. There was a time, when, like most actors, I\u2019d shun villainous parts. Imagine, I\u2019d even turned down the\u00a0Shah Rukh Khan\u00a0role of the stalker in\u00a0Darr<\/em>.
