{"id":77229,"date":"2018-09-05T19:38:54","date_gmt":"2018-09-05T14:38:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tns.world\/?p=77229"},"modified":"2018-09-05T20:21:16","modified_gmt":"2018-09-05T15:21:16","slug":"nab-initiates-inquiries-against-pervez-khatak-waseem-akhtar-and-others","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tns.world\/?p=77229","title":{"rendered":"NAB initiates inquiries against Pervez Khatak, Waseem Akhtar and others"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Islamabad, Sept. 5 (TBS): The\u00a0National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has approved to initiate an inquiry into\u00a0Defence Minister\u00a0Pervez Khattak.<\/p>\n<p>The decision was taken in a\u00a0NAB\u00a0meeting held in\u00a0Islamabad.<\/p>\n<p>The meeting was headed by\u00a0NAB\u00a0Chairman Javed Iqbal and attended by the board of governors.<\/p>\n<p>According to the circular issued by\u00a0NAB, the anti-graft watchdog has approved a total of 14 inquiries.<\/p>\n<p>A probe will be initiated against\u00a0Defence Minister\u00a0Pervez Khattak,\u00a0Karachi\u00a0Mayor Waseem Akhtar,\u00a0Sindh\u00a0Assembly\u00a0Speaker Agha Siraj Durrani and Dr Ehsan among 14 other people.<\/p>\n<p>EBM accorded approval to conduct inquiry against former<br \/>\nAdditional Chief Secretary (P&amp;D) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Khalid Pervaiz,<br \/>\nManaging Director Tourism Corporation, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Mushtaq<br \/>\nKhan, Iqbal Z Ahmed, Yousaf Jamil Ansari, Iftikhar Qaimkhani, Director<br \/>\nDeneral Sindh Building Control Authority, Mayor Karachi Waseem Ahmed,<br \/>\nFormer Special Assistant to Sindh Chief Minister Imtiaz Malah,Dilawar<br \/>\nHussain Memon, Chief Executive Officer ,MEPCO , Sukkar Nazir Soomro<br \/>\nand Messers Crystal Mod Town Rao and builders of Rana, Associates,<br \/>\nowner Rao Muhammad Shakir, and others.<\/p>\n<p>Likewise three other investigations have also been approved against Dr<br \/>\nShahid Mehboob,Vice Chancellor, GC University,Faisalabad, Ali Gul<br \/>\nKurd, Director General Finance, office, Quetta. Details would be<br \/>\nshared at appropriate time as per directives of Supreme Court of<br \/>\nPakistan. The EBM has accorded approval to file following corruption<br \/>\nreferences.<\/p>\n<p>EBM has approved filing reference against Dr Ahsan Ali, former Vice<br \/>\nChancellor, Abdul Wali Khan University, Mardan and others on<br \/>\naccusations of inflicting Rs 328.366 million in awarding contract of<br \/>\npurchasing IT equipments to favourite companies on higher rates.<\/p>\n<p>The EBM also approved filing a reference against Nawabzada<br \/>\nMehmoodzaib, former provincial minister for Technical Education,<br \/>\nManpower, Industries, Mineral Development Development , Khyber<br \/>\nPakhtunkhwa. They have been accused of inflicting Rs 350.52 million<br \/>\nlosses to national kitty by awarding phosphate exploration contract of<br \/>\n498.96 acre land on cheaper rates of Rs 14,980 by abusing authority.<\/p>\n<p>EBM approved filing reference against Izhar Hussain, former Food<br \/>\nMinister, Balochistan and others. They have been accused of<br \/>\nmisappropriation in sending 35,000 sacks of wheat to PRC Pashin. This<br \/>\ncaused Rs 210.18 million losses to national kitty.<\/p>\n<p>EBM approved filing corruption reference against Sultan<br \/>\nMuhammad Hinjra, , former member National Assembly and others. They<br \/>\nhave been accused of illegaly allotting 1342 Kanal state land of Thal<br \/>\nDevelopment Authority and One Kanal , 14 Marla land of graveyard to<br \/>\nfavourites by fraud. This caused Rs 190 million losses to national<br \/>\nkitty.<\/p>\n<p>EBM approved filing corruption reference against Chaudhry<br \/>\nGuftar Ahmed Anjum, former Chief Operating Officer, MEPCO and others.<br \/>\nThey have been accused of depositing Rs 200 million of MEPCO in Trust<br \/>\nInvestment Bank, Multan alleged abuse of authority.This caused Rs 314<br \/>\nmillion losses to national kitty.<\/p>\n<p>Justice Javed said the top priority of NAB was to conclude mega<br \/>\ncorruption cases. NAB officials were pursuing the policy of<br \/>\n\u2018Accountability for All\u2019 for elimination of corruption without caring<br \/>\nabout any duress. NAB considers elimination of corruption as national<br \/>\nresponsibility and NAB officers putting their energies together for<br \/>\ncorruption elimination from country.<\/p>\n<p>Chairman directed to take the investigation, inquiries, and<br \/>\ninvestigations in accordance with law, merit within prescribed time<br \/>\nand on the basis of concrete evidence available. He directed to take<br \/>\nthe cases to logical conclusion so that the looted money could be<br \/>\ndeposited in the national exchequer. This will ensure prosperous<br \/>\nPakistan.
