ISLAMABAD; July 06, 2021 (TNS): Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan Tuesday said that in an era of complex and profound changes at global and regional level, \u2018all weather strategic cooperative partnership\u2019 between Pakistan and China remained a strong anchor for peace, progress and prosperity.
\nAddressing \u201cCPC and World Political Parties Summit\u201d virtually to mark 100th anniversary of founding of Communist Party of China, the prime minister reiterated Pakistan\u2019s support to China\u2019s efforts to safeguard world peace, contribute to global development, and preserve international order.
\nIn the wake of emerging global and regional environment, the prime minister said Pakistan had recalibrated its priorities from geo-politics to geo-economics.
\n\u201cChina-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), the flagship project of BRI, complements Pakistan\u2019s renewed efforts of this geo-economic shift with emphasis on economic integration and regional connectivity,\u201d he said.
\nThe summit was chaired by General Secretary CPC and President Xi Jinping and attended by more than 500 political parties and over 10,000 political workers\/representatives from various parts of the world. About twenty-one world leaders also joined the summit. The prime minister said the abiding friendship with China and the CPEC complemented this vision of peace for themselves and for others, and shared prosperity and common development for their region and the world.
\n\u201cPakistan and China are \u2018iron brothers.\u2019 We support each other on issues of our respective core interests,\u201d he added.
\nThe prime minister participated in the summit at the invitation of General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and President of China Xi Jinping.
\nPrime Minister Imran Khan, who is also Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI), further said that the year also marked 70th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and China.
\n\u201cOur two nations are celebrating this historic milestone in a befitting manner. I am confident that the year 2021 would provide new vigor and vitality to our time-tested friendship,\u201d he observed.
\nIn the virtual summit themed with \u2018For the People\u2019s Well-being: the Responsibility of Political Parties,\u201d the prime minister further said CPC\u2019s mission of \u2018Great Rejuvenation of the Chinese nation\u2019 and PTI\u2019s vision of \u2018Naya Pakistan\u2019 reflected the respective aspirations of the people of our two countries.
\n\u201cOur two parties also share the spirit of struggle, commitment and fortitude,\u201d he added.
\nPrime Minister Khan said that he formed the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf on the principles of accountability, transparency, meritocracy and Islamic welfare to break the vicious cycle of elite capture, corruption and nepotism.
\n\u201cPakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf remains committed to its original mission of rule of law, equality and justice,\u201d he maintained.
\nDilating upon his government\u2019s major achievements, he said the Ehsaas Program launched by PTI government last year was one of the leading social protection programmes in Asia. In its second phase, they envisaged to provide social protection to 8 million of the country\u2019s poorest citizens, he added.
\nThe prime minister said they also made universal health coverage a priority in the health sector reforms.
\nUnder the \u2018Ehsaas Sahulat\u2019 program, they aimed to provide free of cost health insurance initially to the families living below the poverty line, and subsequently to all remaining families, he further informed.
\nAbout, 10 Billion Tree Tsunami project, the prime minister said it reflected their commitment to countering environmental degradation and reversing biodiversity loss.
\n\u201cWe are ready to contribute more than our share to protect this invaluable planet and help it heal from centuries of neglect,\u201d he pronounced.
\nMoreover, in line with his government\u2019s Green Vision, he said, which aligned perfectly with President Xi\u2019s vision for green China, turning China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) into green CPEC \u2018is a priority for Pakistan\u2019.
\nHe also stressed upon joining hands to advance the noble goals of peace and development, welfare of their peoples and building \u2018community of shared future for all mankind.\u2019
\n\u201cOur people deserve no less. Let\u2019s help them fulfill their aspirations in fullest measure,\u201d he emphasized.
\nThe prime minister opined that the discourse in the summit would shed new light on the role of political parties in advancing the well-being of people.
\nThe prime minister also extended heartfelt felicitations, on behalf of the government and people of Pakistan, to President Xi Jinping and the Chinese people on the 100th anniversary of the Communist Party of China.
\nFounding of the CPC in 1921 was a seminal event in world history. The vision of the CPC leadership ignited the spirit of the Chinese nation and encouraged them to wage an epic struggle for liberation from foreign occupation, he observed.
\nThe prime minister said Chairman Mao Zedong, and subsequently Deng Xiaoping, guided the Chinese people in reclaiming national dignity and China\u2019s rightful place in the world.
\nFor decades, the CPC\u2019s spirit instilled new vigour and hope beyond China\u2019s borders. It inspired peoples of colonized nations and contributed to the end of colonial suppression. CPC\u2019s astonishing success rested in the people-centric approach of its development philosophy,\u201d he said.
\n\u201cThe CPC\u2019s achievements of all-round national development, poverty alleviation, anti-corruption, and nation-building, are truly remarkable,\u201d he said, adding that CPC continued to command deep love, loyalty and devotion of the Chinese people.
\nThe prime minister said the CPC\u2019s achievements had opened new vistas of thought for political parties across the world.
\nThe CPC had proven that attainment of political power is primarily meant for bringing a transformation in the lives of people and making them masters of their own destiny.
\n\u201cIndeed, political parties can only enjoy public support and legitimacy if they continue to serve the people selflessly,\u201d he observed.
\nThe prime minister said President Xi\u2019s visionary leadership played a pivotal role in China\u2019s transformation and continued rise.
\nHis people-centric philosophy has made a critical difference as China has eliminated extreme poverty, achieved the goal of building a \u2018moderately prosperous society\u2019, and landed on the Mars, the prime minister said.
\nHe further appreciated President Xi\u2019s vision of shared prosperity, through BRI, which made a major impact on global sustainable development, thus proving his credentials as a global statesman.
\nUnder President Xi\u2019s stewardship, China achieved major success in the \u2018people\u2019s war\u2019 against the COVID-19 pandemic.
