JIT chief presents ‘complaint dossier’ to SC

Islamabad June 10 (TNS): The Joint Investigation Team (JIT) — formed by the Supreme Court to probe the alleged money-laundering and the money trail leading to the purchase of property by the Sharif family abroad — on Saturday submitted a letter to the SC Registrar Office, containing complaints regarding the hardships the team was facing during the probe.

The sealed letter was filed presented by the JIT chief Wajid Zia, who had earlier said that the probe team was facing hurdles in probing the Panama Papers case, after the Supreme Court sought a reply from him on an application of Hussain Nawaz, who had said that the probe deliberately leaked his photo, and the JIT team was showing biasedness.

The Supreme Court Panama Papers’ implementation bench will take up the case one Monday and it is likely that the bench may give a ruling after going through the content of the letter. Hussain and Hassan Nawaz have appeared before the JIT fifth and two times respectively and the probe team has already submitted its second fortnightly report to the bench.
