OIC mourns death of former Secretary General Syed Sharifuddin Pirzada

JEDDAH, June 5 (TNS): The Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) mourned, with heart-felt sorrow and sadness, the death of its former Secretary General Renown Pakistani solicitor Syed Sharifuddin Pirzada, who passed away in Karachi on last Friday at the age of 94. The OIC said in a statement that Pirzada’s death is a great loss to the Muslim Ummah, as he was a man who worked hard to serve his own country and to defend the cause of Islamic Ummah across the various positions he held. He also made immense contributions to the publication field, as he authored numerous research and academic works published in Pakistan and beyond. Joint Islamic action has lost one of the most eminent Islamic personalities that played a crucial role in reinforcing Islamic solidarity during his tenure as OIC Secretary General from 1985-1988, the statement said.
