Islamabad June 21 (TNS): President Mamnoon Hussain on Wednesday said that the ongoing operations will make the country a citadel of peace.
Addressing the 17th convocation of the National Security and War Course at the National Defence University (NDU) in Islamabad, the president said that the country was facing multiple challenges in the form of extremism and terrorism. He, however, expressed the resolve that the nation and state institutions will triumph in fighting the war putting the country’s survival at stake.
Mamnoon said the government and the state institutions were rigorously implementing the National Action Plan and the enemy was on the back foot.
The president said that Pakistan is there to play a positive and constructive role for regional and global peace and stability.
The president while referring to the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor said that the multi-billion dollars project and the flagship project One Belt, One Road will give a new strategic dimension to the regional and global scenario.
The president said the participation of friendly countries in the war and security course will further help promote Pakistan’s relations with them.
Recognizing the role being played by the NDU, Mamnoon expressed the confidence that the institution will further improve its performance in the future.
Earlier, the president gave away certificates to the participants of the course.
NDU President Lt-Gen Rizwan Akhtar said that 159 participants including 26 from friendly countries attended the course.
