Panama Papers probe hurts CPEC: Fazl-ur-Rehman

PESHAWAR, JULY 12 (TNS): “The aim of the Panama Papers probe was just to hurt the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC),” said Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman on Wednesday. He urged the nation to recognize what the Panama issue has actually done except to negatively affect the CPEC project.

While addressing at the JUI-F Secretariat in Peshawar, Rehman criticized the probe terming it as “a useless labor.”

He questioned the very purpose of investigating the premier’s assets, stating that the prime minister had not established his business empire recently, he was a rich man already and a son of an industrialist. “Anyone now defying the Panama Papers probe result is unfortunately being called as corrupt,” he regretted.

He said that the Panama Papers just aimed at creating instability in the country rather than fulfilling its purported objective of eradicating corruption.
