PM Abbasi vows to end power crisis in the country


Islamabad, Aug 8 (TNS): Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on Tuesday vowed to end power crisis in the country.

The prime minister said this while presiding over a meeting on energy sector in Islamabad.

He said government is taking measures on fast track basis to eliminate load shedding from the country and to ensure bright future of Pakistan.

Abbasi, on occasion, said government is determined to achieve a balanced mix for the country’s energy requirements.

He directed the authorities for maximum utilization of Thar coal reserves be ensured to provide cheap electricity to the masses.

The prime minister directed Power Division and Petroleum Division to articulate a roadmap to lessen usage of thermal sources and instead focus on natural gas and domestic coal to generate power.

On occasion, Secretary Power Division and Secretary Petroleum Division briefed Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on power projects and load management plan.
