PM call meeting to sort out Karachi power crisis

Islamabad April 21 (TNS): After the Sui Southern Gas Company did budge an inch to restore gas to K-Electric and Power Minister Awais Laghari launched a counter-offensive against the Sindh chief minister accusing him of blackmailing, Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has summoned an emergency meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Energy on April 23 that might be held in Karachi.

The Cabinet Committee on Energy meeting will discuss the ongoing power crisis in Karachi and the possibility of restoring gas supply K-Electric.

Earlier, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah accused the federal government of power cuts in Sindh and said that he was ready to stage a sit-in outside the Prime Minister House if other political parties joined him to protest the electricity woes in his province.
Addressing a press conference at the Sindh Assembly on Thursday, he said that nothing could be achieved from staging protests at the Chief Minister’s House instead all political parties should join him to stage a protest at the PM House in Islamabad.
