Ramazan torture case: police say main suspect never served in army


Islamabad, June 17 (TNS): Juvenile domestic worker torture case takes another turn as main accused Jawad who introduced himself as retired army colonel has nothing to do with military service.

The Shalimar police on Saturday arrested the accused for allegedly beating and torturing Ramazan, 13-year-old boy working as domestic worker.

Ramazan, who was beaten and tortured by his employers in Sector F-10 Islamabad accusing him of stealing things from their home, was admitted to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences in unconscious condition late on Friday.

The brother of the victim had lodged a case against Col (retd) Jawad and others accusing them of beating and torturing his brother with shoes and sticks.

Police now confirmed from intelligence agencies that accused Jawad never served in the army and his claim to be retired colonel was a fake assertion.

Police officials, who get three-day physical remand of prime suspect, Jawad, now considering to file a separate case on false claim of the army officer or would include new charges in existing FIR.

Young victim is has been discharged from the hospital as Ramazan’s condition was improved.
