Islamabad June 14 (TNS): The Capital Development Authority (CDA) on Wednesday told the Islamabad High Court (IHC) that the Safa Gold Mall management not only violated building codes but also constructed extra floors and a cinema house in violation of the approved plan.
When IHC judge Aamir Farooq took up the case related to the closure and seal of the mall by the CDA, a counsel for the civic agency told the court that the management of the mall in connivance with some CDA officials made changes to the approved plan and constructed several extra floors and a cinema, causing a huge loss to the authority.
The CDA counsel said that the mall had the NOC for the construction of fourth floors but the mall management in collusion with the CDA officials not only constructed a seven-story edifice but also constructed the eighth floor and a cinema house. He said that a separate inquiry would be carried out into the involvement CDA officials and responsibility would be fixed. The counsel said that the constructed was permitted illegally and some of the CDA officials were hand in glove with the mall management. The court sought a complete report from the CDA on illegal floors/buildings within 14 days and adjourned the hearing.
