SBP honours 5th Asian Indoor Martial Arts Games medal winners

Punjab Govt is taking all possible measures for the promotion of sports as per the vision of Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif

LAHORE Sept 28 (TNS): Director General Sports Punjab Zulfiqar Ahmed Ghumman said the medal winners of 5th Asian Indoor Martial Arts Games are national heroes and the entire nation is proud of their achievements. Sports Board Punjab Finance Convener MNA Shaza Fatima Khawaja said representing Pakistan in international sports competitions is the biggest medal itself.

They expressed these views in a prize distribution ceremony arranged in honour of medal winners of 5th Asian Indoor Martial Arts Games at Sports Board Punjab. The medal winners were given cash prizes during the ceremony.

MPA Qaiser Sindhu, President Pakistan Ju-Jitsu Federation Khalil Ahmed Khan, General Secretary Waqar Ilyas, Director Sports Muhammad Anees Sheikh and Nadeem Bhatti were also present in the ceremony.

Addressing the ceremony, Director General Sports Punjab Zulfiqar Ghumman said the ju-jitsu players who won seven medals in 5th Asian Indoor Martial Arts Games fully deserved to be encouraged. “Our doors are open for all games. We will do whatever possible for the growth of ju-jitsu in the province,” he added.

Praising the performance of medal winners, DG SBP Zulfiqar Ghumman said the ju-jitsu players presented a suitable gift to nation in the shape of medals. “Seven out of 13 players clinched medals which is highly appreciable,” he said.

MNA Shaza Fatima Khawaja in her address said Punjab govt is taking all possible measures for the promotion of sports as per the vision of Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif. “The medal winners of 5th Asian Indoor Martial Arts Games did a wonderful job. I’m quite happy to see two women among the medal winners,” she added.

President Pakistan Ju-Jitsu Federation Khalil Ahmed Khan thanked Director General Sports Punjab Zulfiqar Ahmed Ghumman and MNA Shaza Fatima Khawaja for encouraging medal winners of 5th Asian Indoor Martial Arts Games. He said that his players will maintain the medal-winning performance in the future as well.
