ISLAMABAD, June 16 (TNS): The Supreme Court on Friday gave former PML-N leader Senator Nihal Hashmi last chance to submit reply on contempt of court notice issued to him by the apex court over his incendiary speech.
A three member bench headed by Justice Ejaz Afzal Khan and comprising Justice Azmat Saeed Sheikh and Justice Ejazul Ahsan heard the suo motu case over the threatening speech of Hashmi.
Hashmi appeared before the bench during the hearing and said that he had not yet been provided the copy of his speech so that he could submit reply. He sought further time for submitting reply on the notice issued to him on contempt of court.
The court gave last chance to the senator to submit reply on the notice and adjourned further hearing of the case till June 23.
The court rejected Hashmi’s peal to stay the proceeding of the criminal case registered against him in Karachi. Justice Azmat Saeed remarked that they would not stay the proceeding, “It is up to you and the criminal law to deal the case.”
