Islamabad April 30 (TNS): Chief Justice of Pakistan on Monday summoned Human Organs Transplant Authority over a suo motu notice case on the closure of kidney transplant centre in Shaikh Zayed Hospital since January.
HOTA had stopped the centre from performing procedures after the death of a donor in the surgical intervention in January and ordered an inquiry.
Hearing the case CJP remarked that the centre is closed to give benefit to the Al-Shifa Hospital and asked that by which authorities HOTA has banned the operations.
Justice Nisar questioned that why the inquiry report into the matter is no filled hence it was started in January.
CJP inquired about the facilities available in the hospital for the kidney transplantation upon which director technical SZH told the court that the hospital is fully equipped and ready for the operations but it had stopped the operations after the ban imposed by the authority.
CJP summoned HOTA and sought an explanation on the issue.
