Sharjeel Memon’s plea to strike off name from ECL rejected

Karachi Jun 06 (TNS): The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Tuesday rejected a plea of former Sindh information minister Sharjeel Inam Memon seeking removal of his name from the Exit Control List (ECL) before travelling abroad for medical treatment.

Memon had moved the SHC seeking removal of his name from the ECL.

During the hearing, a law officer of the federal government opposed his plea stating he was wanted to the authorities in several cases and once he left the country, he will never return.

The court after listening arguments from both sides rejected the plea of Memon and adjourned the hearing for an indefinite period.

The NAB had filed a reference against Memon and 10 others in an accountability court of Karachi for their alleged involvement in a scam of Rs5.76 billion.

Memon was living in a self-imposed exile in Dubai and London before his returned to Pakistan earlier this year.
