Shehbaz Sharif felicitates Dr. Mehreen Faruqi on becoming first Muslim member of Australian Senate


Islamabad, August 16 (TNS): Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) president Mian Shehbaz Sharif congratulated Dr Mehreen Faruqi on making history as she became the first ever Muslim member of the Australian Senate.

On Thursday Shehbaz took to twitter and praised the achievement of the newly-elected Australian senator, ” The academic of Pakistan origin Dr Mehreen Faruqi, a PhD in environmental engineering, has got the rare distinction of being first Muslim to become member of Australian Senate. Her new role will be a story of inspiration back home. More power to her!”

The Pakistani origin Australian politician, Dr. Mehreen Faruqi is a doctorate in Environmental engineering and has been a member of the New South Wales parliament, a province of Australia from where she has been elected.

Dr. Mehreen Faruqi has been a member of the green party in the political sphere of Australia and has been elected through the platform of the political party.

She was born in Pakistan, however she migrated to Australia in 1992 and after aquiring higher education she stepped into politics where she acheived many accolades.

She will be sworn in next week as Australian Senator.
