Ankara, July 15 (TNS): Hundreds of thousands people gathered to roads across Turkey to mark the first anniversary of an unsuccessful military coup.
A large number of masses reached to the Istanbul-bridge which now became a landmark of resistance against military coup after an army faction tried to seize power last year.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan unveiled a memorial at the Istanbul-bridge in memory of 260 people who have been killed fighting the rebellion on July 15 last year.
Some 2,196 were also wounded in failed coup.
Turkish government has since sacked more than 150,000 public employees, accusing they were supporters rebellion.
The date of 15 July was also announced an annual holiday.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan urged the Turkish people to loudly recite Darud-o-Salam (prayers) in all 86792 mosques, madrasas, universities and other public places to mark the day.
