Islamabad, July 30 (TNS): No inquiry is in progress against LNG project in National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Karachi region as the watchdog closed probe in its Regional Board meeting (RBM) held on December 19, 2016, TNS has learnt.
According to documents, available with TNS, the watchdog in Regional Board meeting (RBM), chaired by Director General NAB Karachi, on December 19, 2016, discussed inquiry against the management of Sui Southern Gas Company Limited (SSGCL) and others.
The inquiry was authorized by DG, NAB Karachi on July 29, 2015.
During the inquiry proceeding, it was established that management of ISGS and SSGCL in a non-transparent manner selected M/s Engro as a successful bidder for LNG terminal at Karachi port for 15 years.
The federal government of Pakistan had authorized PSO to procurement LNG on behalf of SSGCL.
The RBM in its decision said: “After exhaustive discussion, it has been decided that it is an ongoing project and any intervention by NAB at this juncture will jeopardize the efforts of the provision of LNG from the project of public/national importance. It is, therefore, decided the closure of inquiry our end”.
