Ministry of Interior’s letter to NADRA to end amnesty scheme for illegally staying foreign nationals

The Ministry of Interior, Government of Pakistan has warned that “the amnesty scheme for foreigners residing illegally in Pakistan will expire on December 31, 2022” and no additional concessions will be given.
According to the spokesman of the Ministry of Interior, Government of Pakistan, the Ministry of Interior has sent a letter to NADRA to terminate the amnesty scheme.

It has been said in the letter that in this regard, fines should be collected from foreign residents who overstay in Pakistan from January 1, 2023.

NADRA will charge a penalty amount from overstayers for more than one year on applications received for an exit permits.

After the amnesty scheme expires, those who overstay for more than one year will be blacklisted.

The Ministry of Interior had issued a scheme for foreigners residing illegally in Pakistan from 29 July 2022.

It should be noted that earlier under the amnesty scheme, foreigners did not have to pay huge fines to leave Pakistan.
