ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening its enduring ties with the United Arab Emirates (UAE), expressing confidence that the brotherly relations and mutual cooperation between the two nations would reach new historic heights.

Addressing a reception held to mark the UAE’s 53rd National Day, Eid Al-Etihad, the prime minister congratulated the government and people of the UAE on the landmark occasion. He lauded the UAE’s remarkable journey towards progress and prosperity, emphasizing its unwavering support for Pakistan over the decades.

Shehbaz Sharif paid tribute to the visionary leadership of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, whose generous contributions to Pakistan in critical sectors like health, infrastructure, and aviation remain etched in the nation’s memory. “Sheikh Zayed was a great friend of Pakistan, and his legacy continues to inspire us,” he said.

The prime minister also commended the leadership of UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan for his transformative approach, which has propelled the UAE to a distinguished position on the global stage. “Under his dynamic leadership, the UAE has cemented its place as a beacon of progress and development in the comity of nations,” he remarked.

The event was attended by federal ministers, members of the diplomatic community, and senior government officials.

Reiterating Pakistan’s steadfast support for the UAE’s territorial integrity and solidarity, Shehbaz Sharif highlighted the enduring partnership between the two countries. “Pakistan will always stand by the UAE, as we share a common vision of peace, stability, and prosperity in the region,” he asserted.

The premier also acknowledged the UAE’s critical support during Pakistan’s challenging economic periods, particularly during the recent International Monetary Fund (IMF) program negotiations. “The UAE’s consistent support has been pivotal for Pakistan, and our leadership remains committed to enhancing bilateral cooperation, particularly in trade and economic domains,” he said, noting ongoing government-to-government (G2G) initiatives.

Shehbaz Sharif expressed gratitude to the UAE for hosting a large Pakistani diaspora and for facilitating visa processes that have further strengthened people-to-people connections.

“Pakistan and the UAE are bound by deep-rooted bonds of brotherhood, and together, we will continue marching forward on the path of shared progress and prosperity,” he concluded.
